Story Ninja offers critique & editorial services!
This service is perfect for writers who have completed their novels and are either 1- wanting to seek an agent and publisher or 2 – wanting to self-publish their book.
If you have not completed your novel and are looking for additional help and guidance – check out Story Ninja’s mentoring services.
The First 50
This service focuses on the first 50 pages of your manuscript – arguably the most important pages of your manuscript. Many agents will ask to see the first 50 pages before deciding whether they want to read your full manuscript. This service is a more affordable option than a full critique or edit.
This service offers the following: a full read of your manuscript and a written analysis. The analysis will cover all the main aspects of your story and give you a clear idea of what is working and not working. General suggestions for improvement will be provided as well as a 30 minute phone consultation to follow up with any questions you might have.
There are several different kinds of editing and the kind I offer is typically called a substantive edit. It means I am focused on the overall structure and arcs of the story down to scene development and character arcs. It does not include line editing though I always note grammar and usage issues that I find. This is a more thorough analysis and includes a minimum of two read throughs as well as your manuscript annotated with notes throughout. You are also entitled to a 60 minute phone consultation to follow up with any questions you might have.
If you’ve received a substantive edit and have made corrections, a secondary read through is available at a significantly reduced cost.
If you are interested in any of these services – contact me! Tell me about your story (genre, word count, your plans for the novel) and I can give you a price quote.
