Intersection of Media & Faith

Each year since it began I’ve attended the Gideon Media Arts Conference & Film Festival. Each year I look forward to the fellowship and connections that occur in a place where Christians come together to use their gifts and talents for the Lord – but they do it in the media arts field

Each year I, along with Vonda Skelton, work with the Teen Intern Program. While anyone over 18 can come and participate in this professional conference, those between 16 and 18 years of age can apply to come as a Gideon Intern.

Who are we looking for?

Teens between 16 and 18 who are actively working in the media arts as filmmakers, writers, actors, graphic artists, songwriters, singers, or any kind of technical production. The program isn’t for the curious – it’s for those that are already working to grow in their craft.

What do the Interns do?

Our Gideon Interns participate in every aspect of the conference by attending classes and workshops by professionals as well as having the opportunity to see all of the films in our film festival. But during each meal, the Interns get the undivided attention of one of the Gideon faculty members. This perk, reserved exclusively for our Interns (and Contest Winners), allows our teens to interact and ask questions of these working professionals.

When & Where is the Gideon Conference?

The 2011 Gideon Media Arts Conference will be held from August 6-11, 2011 at the Ridgecrest Conference center in Ridgecrest, North Carolina. The closest airport would be Asheville, NC. We do provide shuttles to and from the airport for our Interns that need it.

How much does it cost?

The Interns pay the same as everyone else who attends the conference: $315 for the conference, $162.75 for the meal package and $64 per night for 5 nights (Interns typically are assigned a roommate though, so the cost for them is usually $32 per night).

How do I apply?

We are accepting applications now. Go to the Gideon Intern Page where you can read some more details about the program and download the 2011 application today!
